BACK
GROUND:
Tesco originally wrote out mark down labels by hand. They wished to improve
image as well as capture data ref. goods sold as discounted items. Using
new system operator scans EAN8/13 barcode, enters old and new prices,
transmits data via R/F to B211 and prints new REDUCED label showing old
price (crossed out) plus new price with EAN128 barcode....when the barcode
is scanned at checkout it tells back office system that item is mark down
product....this is used for management information.
EFFECT:
Much improved management info. and better product image in store...customers
easily identify discounted products.
Advantages
:
Ease of use of printer and wireless system, batch and peel off modes,
speed of throughput, true mobile data download avoiding wires (they break)
and IRDA (must stand still), good print quality, repeat print function.
